Wax Research!
I decided to do some research on wax. I went to jensen beach, 3-6 footers. I used terra wax, mrs. palmers, sticky bumps, mr. zogs 3x soft, mr. zogs 5x hard, and no wax. I used goo gone inbetween each trial to make sure there was no wax from the previous wax bar left over. here are the results, I used a 1-10 scale, 1 being BAD and 10 being exellent!
terra wax- 7 mrs. palmers- 10 mr. zogs 5x hard- 6 mr. zogs 3x soft- 4 sticky bumps- 9 no wax- 1

This is my favorite skimboarding picture, im not sure why, it just is.
This is a picture of Kyle Thoresen. Although he is only a few years older than me, I still look up to him as one of my favorite skimboarders. Click the picture to go to his sponsers site, retro skimboarding.

A bowling alley paste tip!
As you all know, Bowling alley paste or any kind of hard wood or car wax will speed up your board dramticlly. I did some hands on testing, and found out that by using the smallest amount of bowling alley paste on the bottom of your board, you go the faster than any other method of applying paste, it drys quicker, and it protects the underside of your board from harmful scratchs more effectivly than other methods. Also, do not buff the paste off after applying it, let it dry for the best results.

Which board is right for you?
Well, this is a tough one. It is not so much which board is technically correct for you, it's more of your own personal preferance. You need to incorperate your skill level into your decision, as well as you atletic ability. Example: a skilled rider can handle a smaller board than recommended because he has developed very good balancing skills, but an inexpierienced rider may want a larger board than reqired to float them better. Also if you cannot run fast, you may want to consider a slightly larger board than the one in your weight range. Or it could be the other way around. Also, don't be afraid to consult with a skimboarding company's worker... they are usually VERY knowledgeable about the quality of the boards and what circumstances to consider when purchasing a skimboard.
